Fugees: The Score XXV

Marketing / Content

Per Ms Lauryn Hill’s request, Project Art Collective answered the call to unite the Fugees for the 25th anniversary of the legendary record The Score. We had the privilege of working directly with Ms Hill to establish the visual aesthetic for print and video marketing pieces that revealed the special occasion, which ran for a very limited time.

Project Details

  • Ms. Lauryn Hills personally asked for our assistance in developing a visual direction, tour material, and content for the 25th anniversary of the historic The Score record, along with the re-emergence of the group.

  • Although this effort was meant for Fugees, Ms. Hill is the driving force, and given her involvement it was critical to highlight her uniquely eclectic style. We established a collaborative schedule where only two of us and Ms. Hill brainstormed, reviewed designs, and made decisions.

  • Working with celebrities is very different than working with traditional clients, therefore we instilled a high level of flexibility, experimentation, and exploration. Together with Ms. Hill, we tested typography, color systems, photography, and design elements. We developed a visual direction that easily incorporated motion, felt hand-crafted, and had characteristics of early punk and hip-hop aesthetics.
